Reading has long been a hive of tech and innovation. Perhaps that’s due to its regular supply of some of the UK’s best young minds, delivered – and partly shaped – by the University’s Enterprise Centre at the Thames Valley Science Park. Or maybe it’s thanks to the Science Park itself, which is home to over 70 companies, ranging from global R&D centres to small start-up business. Whatever the magnetic pull, there’s no denying that Reading is rife with tech talent – which helps explain why major multinationals, such as Oracle, Microsoft and Cisco Systems, have core bases there.

With that in mind, it’s little surprise that The 2018 Tech Nation report identified Reading as one of 30 key tech clusters in the UK, with the area generating £13.6 billion in related revenue in 2017 alone. And with such a bright future ahead, tech companies in Reading are looking for the right marketing people to help them maximise this opportunity, right now, and turning to well-placed recruitment firms like us to help find them. We’re delighted.

But as the saying goes (well, this is our version, anyway….), all work and no play makes Jack and Jill very dull. So, it’s great that there are plenty of ways to relax in Reading, too.
Quench that thirst for knowledge by visiting the Silchester Roman City Walls and Amphitheatre, clear your head, with a stroll or even a run, through Loddon Nature Reserve or along Kennet & Avon canal, pet some animals and play crazy golf at Lockey Zoo or catch a show at The Hexagon Theatre.

For music lovers, Reading is of course home to the legendary – and eponymously named – festival, Reading, which takes place in August. If you’re young at heart, then the Reading Festival could really be for you. Our recruiters will applaud your joie de vivre, whilst also hoping you bring that passion and enthusiasm into their workplace. After you’ve showered, of course!
